Step-by-step guide for XECHO beta artists

We published a step-by-step guide for artists in the XECHO beta. It covers getting in, your profile, your vault, your first upload, setting up payouts, and what to do when something doesn't click. The beta runs on test money, and the checkouts now spell out the test values.

How a play works in XECHO

In XECHO, a play is a set number of seconds a listener actually spends with a track. What the listener pays goes to the artists they spent those seconds on, and artists keep 85%. The beta is invite-only.

XECHO is not only music: books and audiobooks sell in the beta

XECHO is not only music. Books and audiobooks sell inside the beta right next to the tracks. The beta is invite-only, and we asked authors whether they narrate their own audiobook.

XECHO beta artists and authors now have fan invite links

Every artist and author in the XECHO beta now has their own fan invite link, found on the Fans page (Reader Tools for authors). Fans no longer have to wait on us for a code. The beta remains invite-only.

Every split on XECHO

On XECHO, streams pay 85% to the creator, tips 95%, fan subscriptions 80% and Wave Shop sales 85%. These are the numbers in our published terms and the numbers the system is set to pay. There is no per-release fee at any tier, and we cover the network fee for every release's ownership record.

How to get into the XECHO beta

To join the XECHO beta, you fill out a request form with your name, email, what you do and why you want in. A person on the team reads every request, and if it is a yes your code arrives by email. Artists can start on the free tier with up to five releases, and the beta is invite-only.

An invitation to artists: your music stays yours on XECHO

If you make music and are not on XECHO yet, this is our ask. Upload a track and it is yours on the platform rather than licensed back to you, and 85 cents of every dollar stays with the artist. It is an invite-only beta, and you can request a code on our site.

XECHO authors get a working hub

Authors got a working hub on XECHO: an end-to-end book upload flow, a catalogue of published titles, verification, a payouts page and a metrics page. The metrics come from a newly built API so the numbers are computed by the system rather than estimated. The beta remains invite-only, with no date promised for general access.

XECHO previews: thirty seconds of any track, open to anyone

Previews shipped this week on XECHO: thirty seconds of any track, open to anyone without an account or code. Full audio stays behind a per-track token, with the gate placed at the read surface rather than the player so it does not leak. Beta artists can now send their track to anyone to hear.

XECHO build log: payout path complete and book catalogue pages

Last week on XECHO, artists gained the ability to claim on-chain earnings, the last piece of the payout path that needed a human in the middle. Books and audiobooks got their own catalogue pages with structured data and a controlled vocabulary for subjects and genres. The beta remains invite-only, with no general-access date promised.

XECHO artists can claim on-chain earnings from the dashboard

Artists on XECHO can now claim their on-chain earnings straight from the dashboard: you see the balance, claim it, and it settles on chain with no support ticket. Authors received a payouts surface of their own in the same batch. The beta is still invite-only, with codes going out in waves.
